{"id":100,"date":"2018-02-25T21:39:29","date_gmt":"2018-02-25T16:39:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jessicacurrall.com\/?p=100"},"modified":"2018-02-25T21:39:29","modified_gmt":"2018-02-25T16:39:29","slug":"02-23-18-my-first-first-person-account-of-being-a-clinical-practicum-instructor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jessicacurrall.com\/index.php\/2018\/02\/25\/02-23-18-my-first-first-person-account-of-being-a-clinical-practicum-instructor\/","title":{"rendered":"02.25.18 &#8212; My first first-person account of being a Clinical Practicum Instructor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost a year ago exactly, circumstances aligned that I knew for sure that I could not stay in the work position I was in: \u00a0I couldn&#8217;t do good for it, and it wasn&#8217;t doing me any good.<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0<strong>I had worked so hard to understand clinical practice as a speech-language pathologist in a supervisory capacity: \u00a0that role, that teaching, that responsibility.<\/strong> \u00a0A \u00a0lot of my time, energy, and resources had been dedicated to learning as much as I could. \u00a0My mind and sense of investment still haven&#8217;t\u00a0quite adapted to letting that go. \u00a0I also had the time to think about it and try to come to a more coherent review of it all.<\/p>\n<p>The result is what I characterize as a<strong> first-person account.<\/strong> \u00a0It includes how I thought\/felt\/approached things and specific resources. \u00a0I think it has helped me to process things, and I like to think that it\u00a0<em>may<\/em> be helpful to someone else.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/192.241.129.221\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ConversationsAboutConversations_GradClinicians1.compressed.pdf\">Conversations About Conversations: \u00a0Graduate Student Clinicians 1<\/a> includes a review of how I related to being a clinical supervisor generally, and primarily focuses on the practicalities of the situation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/192.241.129.221\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ConversationsAboutConversations_GradClinicians2.compressed.pdf\">Conversations About Conversations: \u00a0Graduate Student Clinicians 2<\/a> applies more specifically to my sense of how to teach being a speech-language pathologist to individuals with complex communication needs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/192.241.129.221\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ConversationsAboutConversations_GradCliniciansReferences.pdf\">Conversations About Conversations: \u00a0References<\/a> are the resources that I pulled from in a semi-APA style, I think. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t work to hard to get it formatted that way because this really is not a research thing.<\/p>\n<p>&lt;&lt; End blip. &gt;&gt;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Almost a year ago exactly, circumstances aligned that I knew for sure that I could not stay in the work position I was in: \u00a0I couldn&#8217;t do good for it, and it wasn&#8217;t doing me any good.
